Two COVID19 vaccines- Covaxin and Covishield have both been authorized in India for restricted use in emergency situations. The Covishield vaccine is said to be the equivalent of the vaccine made by Oxford University and the British-Swedish company- AstraZeneca.

Its efficacy is said to be around 70%. AstraZeneca had assigned to the task of manufacturing this vaccine to the Serum Institute of India, which is the world's largest serum manufacturing company.

So this vaccine will be Made in India.

The second one is Covaxin, which will be manufactured by the Bharat Biotech company. This vaccine has been criticized by many experts because its Phase III trials are not yet complete. So, we do not know its exact efficacy.

Due to similar reasons, AIDAN- All India Drug Action Network, which is an independent network of several NGOs. They have appealed to the government to reconsider the approval of this vaccine.

Furthermore, at the press conference in which the news of the authorization of the vaccine was broached to the public, the government entertained no questions in that press conference.
